Mountain Dog

The bush dog in this photograph lives in the forests and savannas of Central and South America. It is a rare species whose numbers are declining as a result of the destruction of its natural habitat. With short legs and long hair, the bush dog reaches a height of 30 cm (12 inches) at the shoulder and weighs about 5-7 kg (11-15 pounds). Little is known of the habits of this nocturnal animal. It is believed that the bush dog hunts in packs, feeding primarily on rodents.

Es una especie rara cuyo número está en peligro de extinción como resultado de la destrucción de su hábitat natural. Él tiene patas cortas y pelaje largo. El perro de monte alcanza una altura de 30 cm. en el hombro y pesa unos 5-7 kilogramos. Poco se sabe de los hábitos de este animal nocturno. Se cree que el perro de monte caza en manadas, alimentándose principalmente de roedores.
